Ikuzi Teraki & Jeanne Bisson

Utilitarian porcelain tableware and sculptural vase forms and wall pieces. The work is thrown, slab or handbuilt. The concept behind the work is to be useful as well as to challenge. The artists create drama in color, texture, form and weight. Setting a table can be an artform in itself. Ikuzi Teraki and Jeanne Bisson create functional porcelain ceramics that are unusually dramatic in color, texture, form and weight. Teraki and Bisson combine a lifelong involvement with Japanese ceramics with their powerful connection to nature. Whether thrown, slab-built or hand-formed, each piece reflects a precise attention to detail. Their collaborative work is often surprisingly geometric or cylindrical and quite sleek, while retaining a distinctly handmade aura.
