Gina Pannorfi - Chicago IL

These one of a kind textiles are individually crafted when hand dyed silk is puckered and gathered when merged with merino wool by hand through the process of wet felting. The wool is layered onto the silk surface then attached to it, through friction soap and water. Once the wool is adhered to the silk surface the fibers are fused when shrunk by hand, in alternate baths of hot and cold water. Fiber Reactive dyes, three weights of silk, merino fibers, hand sewing and embellishment techniques are used in combination to create a collection of 26 styles of scarves and shawls.
