Reiko Miyagi - Weaverville NC
My work is inspired by the shapes from the natural world and my belief in the connectedness of all beings and objects. In ancient times Japan had a philosophy of "Yaoyorozu no kami", or that all beings and objects have holiness and I appreciate that nature and our surroundings make us what we are. In my drawings I use natural forms, animals, dancers and musicians as symbols of the vitality of life and to capture moments of "bliss." My hope is that my work be used to help celebrate the daily rituals of life and to make harmonious and beautiful surroundings. For me handmade and natural objects are integral to every good environment and the celebration of the moments that we live in.
