My sculptures are a culmination of many things in my life up to now: The visual concepting skills I used as an advertising art director, my love to "play with type" as a graphic designer, my decades long collecting of used signage letters, vintage letterpress and various found objects—and most important of all, my life long desire to create with my hands as well as my head. Each typographic sculpture is a fun but challenging exercise in visual problem solving, I let the shapes and colors guide me. The joy is seeing beyond the intended use of the old signage letters, letterpress and discarded objects; transforming and elevating them to a higher level never expected—but somehow in the end, feels so right. Ultimately, my goal is to have my typographic sculptures challenge—and delight—both the eye and mind.
